Education Background
Wu Jianli, a plant geneticist, received his BSc degree in Genetics (1984) from Sichuan University, China; his MSc degree in Plant Genetics (1989) from University of Birmingham, England, UK and his PhD in Plant Pathology (2000) from the Zhejiang University, China.
Research Area
He is a technical consultant of Asian Rice Biotechnology Network (ARBN), supported by Asian Development Bank to develop DNA molecular markers for marker-assisted selection for breeding of disease, and pest resistant rice varieties for teams in the network, as well as to help and train team members in the application of modern biotechnology in their own breeding programs. He is responsible for the development of chemical induced IR64 mutant bank for forward and reverse genetics at International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) as a project scientist.
He is the group leader of Rice Genetics and Bioinformation Group at China National Rice Research Institute (CNRRI) and responsible for identification, characterization and molecular marker development of genes of agronomic important traits.
