About CNRRI


CNRRI is a nonprofit independent research and training organization in China. It was established in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province as approved by the Chinese State Council in June 1981, under the dual leadership of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and Zhejiang Provincial Government. CNRRI plays an important role in coordinating priority rice research programs throughout the country, conducting national and international training and scientific & technical exchange, compiling & publishing academic journals and books on rice. Job Description


CNRRI will provide 4 young scientists position in rice bioinformatics, rice pests, paddy ecology and environment, and rice nutrition and fertilization respectively, and a senior scientist position in rice fine processing and by-products processing. These scientists can play a strategic leadership role in developing, leading, and implementing major research programs and projects in their research field.


Roles and Responsibilities


  • To bring a clear understanding of the discipline to the position, and develop basic strategies and forward-looking research projects that meet the major national and international strategic needs of CNRRI;
  • To lead a research team to produce innovative results and make notable scientific progress at an international level, and to publish peer-reviewed articles in international journals as the team leader (first author);
  • To nurture early career scientists in the team, organize international academic exchanges, and develop fruitful scientific collaborations with relevant agencies in China and abroad;
  • To publish scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and other relevant publications highlighting research findings to reflect CNRRI’s scientific leadership in the field.
  • To lead/participate actively in developing research proposals and help in securing and managing funds for research
  • To comply with laws, regulations and other related rules in China

Qualifications for young Scientist


  • PhD in a relevant discipline with at least 3 years post-PhD or working experience in relevant areas
  • Under or at the age of 45 and in good state of health;
  • Fluency in English or Chinese mandarin;
  • Undertake to work full-time in China;

Qualifications for senior Scientist


  • PhD in a relevant discipline and excellent working experience as professor or senior scientist in university or the other research institutes;
  • In good state of health;
  • Fluency in English or Chinese mandarin;
  • Undertake to work full-time in China;

Skills Required


  • Excellent research and staff management experience
  • Demonstrated contribution to the delivery of strategies and plans of multiple projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
